::Took the Couples Cooking class and it was fantastic. The food was great, it was very hands on, and the Chef was funny and very knowledgeable. Had a great time and would definitely take another class.

::I took the vegetarian cooking class with my husband in January. As new vegetarians, we were really excited to learn more about vegetarian cooking (i.e. how to substitute animal protein and make the most of legumes etc.). We were really disappointed by the whole experience. There was absolutely no instruction on vegetarian cooking, principles, do's and don'ts. But more importantly, the class wasn't really a class. It was more of a money grab; an assembly line of people paying 95/person. I guess they want to keep overhead low by only having one instructor for over 20 people. The group was divided into 4 groups, and each person got to do one task such as cutting onions. Our task was to cut beets. There was no opportunity to learn any of the other recipes, no group demonstrations or instruction. So, we paid 200 dollars to cut beets. When we finally sat down to eat our meal, there was barely enough food for our table. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking to learn more about cooking. Go to SAIT culinary campus, or Chateau and Cuisine. They are super professional and you'll come away with some new skills and have a great time.

::I wouldn't so much call this a cooking class as being given the ingredients to frantically cook your own meal while fighting for stove space with 20 other people. I learned absolutely nothing in this "class". I would recommend going elsewhere if you actually want to learn something.

::AMAZING customer service!!!! I called to ask if they carried coco butter and was told they did. I live and work downtown, thus do not own a car, so I walked to their store. When I got there, I was told by a young woman that they didn't not have any. She offered to call Community Health Food and ask if they had some. They did indeed carry what I needed, but I said it was too far to walk, as it was very cold that day. The young woman offered to drive to Community Health and pick it up for me, I was reluctant for her to do so, but she insisted. Now that is AMAZING customer service!!!! Thank you!!!! Sorry, I forgot to get the young womans' name. Nancy Hoekman

::Attended the Duchess Bake Co. class. Already had the cookbook and when I signed up I was told I would get the credit for the cookbook back in money to spend at the store equivalent to what the book was worth. Great I thought - I could pick up some ingredients from the delicious treats I was going to make. I was definitely wrong. Class was very unorganized - we were constantly asking for direction on what we should be doing and seemed to always be looking for ingredients or supplies (which should have all been laid out as they knew what recipes we were making beforehand). They didn't book enough time for the class and we were scrambling to get everything done (eg: our chocolate tart didn't have time to set but they cut it to send pieces home with people anyway). After the class, I went to find out how much I'd have in store credit to spend. The price on the back of the cookbook was $35 so I thought I would get something in that range. Couldn't believe it when Gail at the counter told me $17.50 was all the credit I'd get. I decided to keep the book since it was worth much more than $17.50 - I'll have to give the book away as a gift. Definitely will not be back for any classes at Cookbook Co.
