  I read the unfavourable review, I feel compelled to leave a review after seeing such a slight against such an amazing martial arts school. Let alone a slight against Grand Master Soeng. My son absolutely enjoys going to Grand Masters class. Yes, some older, higher belts help teach part of the class. But, Grand Master Soeng has always gone out of his to make time for my son personally. As I have seen him do with every child in the class. I watch as this honourable man engages each child by name, acknowledging each child’s strengths. While working on their weaknesses. My son only recently returned to his class, my sons school teacher has already informed me she is seeing a noticeable positive difference. I dare anyone that has left an unfavourable review to use their real name for I know after watching Grand Master Soeng, he will know it. I personally recommend every parent I know to enroll their children here. Grand Master Soeng I appreciate all that you have done for Trent and admire all that you do for everyone in your school.   I was once a scrawny girl who balked at the idea of joining a martial art. Despite being deeply unsure of what I was getting myself into, I decided I would try out one class. Five years later, I'm hooked. Grandmaster Soengkono is an outstanding teacher, exemplary martial artist, and an inspirational human being. I strongly recommend you give this dojo a try!

  As a parent watching my son dedicate himself to the discipline of Taekwondo under Grand Master Song fills me with pride. Grand Master Song is invested in not only his students but their families as well. He is teaching my son to be the best he can be in life. The atmosphere at the Dojo is that of a family. This is a top notch school. His Senior students do teach classes now and again but make no mistake they are well trained and more then capable. We have been blessed to be part of something that keeps my child not only fit but safe and prepared for what life may have in store.

  As the parent of a child with a neurological condition, after school activities were a stressful endeavor for all parties involved. I was hesitant to enroll my son in yet another structured class of any kind, but began making calls I'm the hopes of finding a better fit for my son's needs. GM Song understood my reservations and gave my son an open invitation to watch and/or participate in a couple of classes without any need to commit. Many places offered this, but GM Song genuinely took the time to accommodate us in a way nobody else previously had. When HE was ready, they welcomed my child onto the mats. And as I sat nervously watching I quickly realized that this place was by far the healthiest social environment he'd ever been a part of. His disability has never once been met with negativity, and instructors go the extra mile to help him work through any issues or struggles he is having due to his condition. Students have compassion based conversation about their differences, and are taught to embrace uniqueness in our fellow humans. Kindness isn't just a concept or a rule they are taught to recite, it is at the heart of their learning at Soengkono martial arts. This compassion and understanding has changed his life. He'd attended countless classes in many arts and disciplines previously, but struggled through all of them in relative isolation. Within a few trial classes of taekwando however he'd made friends, began to enjoy being around other "normal" children, and for the first time he felt comfortable existing in a public space. It has been four years, and he has thrived under the guidance of GM Song. He has just begun his journey into a second discipline there, and couldn't be happier! Though the intention was for him to learn martial arts... the lessons of compassion, respect, confidence, and perseverance are the true teachings given to students at Soengkono. And for these, I could not be more grateful!

  I would like to share one thing about my great experience as a student. At Soengkono Tae Kwon Do I have learned many of things, but my greatest learning was confidence. I thank the school for guiding me always in the right direction. 😊
