  This place is a grocery store, bakery and informal restaurant in one. If you like sweets this is one of the best places to get them, inexpensive they have a nice selection. Their food is on the salty side, and groceries are also on the expensive side. You can get staples for less elsewhere but if you need Italian imports this is definitely the place to get them. Lots of parking as well.

  Excellent local, specialty/cafe in the Mt Pleasant area. If you're looking for specialty, imported tough-to-find artisan items, Lina's is a great place to look. A great place to find fresh baking, deli sandwiches with seating to catch up with your local neighbours. Parking is free...but tough to get into during rush hour if you're heading South!

  The food is fine, but what is the point you can't get parking. There are like 16 parking spots and they are all full at lunch time. The worst part is that you cannot even park in the streets nearby. I once drove around for a half an hour and finally had to park 2 blocks away just to pick up something! Won't being doing that again.

  Saturday morning coffee with friends turned into an aggressive verbal attack from the barista from Lina's coffee area. After ordering a latte my coffee was dumped in the sink and the empty cup was slammed on the counter. I asked what had just happened to my coffee and was told I said I didn't want it. What had just happened? My friend and myself were in shock at this confrontation. I was so taken back I just stood there and said I had been coming to Lina's for like 10 years and always asked for the same large latte. This was crazy as she kept trying to argue that I didn't know what I was talking about. Her anger was obvious as she made a small latte and banged it again in front of me. Wow, what a way to start a Saturday.....

  I have been frequenting this market for a couple years. It was better in the past with the previous management. But the food quality and general selection of imported foods are great. Mostly the same people working in the past still work at it now. My rating is inclusive of past experience. Coffee and croissants here are my favorite in Calgary. Having travelled extensively in Italy, I can confidently say that this is a really decent representation of a large market in a city like Florence or Pisa. The clientele is also reasonably Italian. More diverse now. But that should tell you what you need to know about home court advantage. Very central location and reasonable parking options. I've never been there with it not being busy.
