  Very disappointed in the Byward Market Lapointe restaurant. It is in the basement, beautiful decorations but has a strong sewer smell. The primary sushi on the menu is salmon. Great if you like salmon and don't mind standard rolls changed to salmon. For example, the caterpillar roll is not maguro but salmon same with a few other standard rolls. I asked to speak to the owner but she was too busy. I also asked the waitress to ask the sushi chef to substitute and was told they never substitute. The menu does not state no substitutions. I would not recommend this restaurant for serious sushi eaters. Sad considering the fish comes from Lapointes fresh fish market.

  As a trained chef, I can honestly say this is the worst restaurant I have visited in Canada. They have no idea how to cook fish and vegetables are also overcooked. Service is grossly incompetent. When fish returned to kitchen, I waited 25 minutes for them to overcook another piece of fish and then serve them up with the same, now overcooked and cold, vegetables. Truly a shock.

  Delicious! I am surprised about the few stars that this place has. For me the food was super good and the prices super fair as well. It is totally worth it to eat in this place. I recommend it and if I go back to Ottawa i will go directly there to have lunch.

  The restaurant has 2 part, sushi bar upstairs and seafood restaurant downstairs. Me and my girl friend went to the seafood one. We ordered a lobster, pasta, half dozen oyster and scallop. The food didn't have much features, I am sorry, but taste good, especially the scallop which has the best taste on the table. Good restaurant for eating.
