  BEWARE Iron Mountain may be the leader in storage solutions - but don't be fooled - you are paying a hefty price for it. Does anyone realize the cost involved in permanently removing their boxes from an Iron Mountain facility? We have had hundreds of boxes stored at Iron Mountain for many years. Recently, we had the time to go thru 97 boxes. What we found was that many of those boxes could be shredded and there was no need to return them to storage. The cost to retrieve the 97 boxes - approx. 145.5 cu feet worth - was over $1300 (which I fully expected because I received a general quote). It did not cross my mind that they would charge me if we were not returning the boxes (other than for the storage space that they would be keeping open for us). My thought was that they would charge us to "replace" the boxes if we were returning them. Guess what, they charge you because you are NOT returning them also. The cost for those 97 boxes - a whopping $990. I tried calling customer service to ask about this fee - but it was apparently in our "contact" that we would have signed years ago. Moral of the story - make sure you know what you are getting into! I would NOT recommend storing anything in a facility that charges because you no longer require the service. I wouldn't have given them even 1 star, but I had to, in order to post this.
