::The 5 years during which I had a mortgage with Home Trust was a very bad experience. Unlike pretty much every other financial instritution in Canada, Home Trust does not allow clients to pay their mortgage in advance. Also, the penalties for cancelling the mortgage if you want to pay in advance or move your mortgage to another financial institution are extremely high compared to other Canadian financial institutions. Beware of doing business with these guys.
