I used to do a Climb for Wilderness event, and those stairs kicked my ass. The Observatory deck is actually pretty cool, and the glass floor always gets a kick out of everyone. The tower itself is gorgeous, and the lighting is impressive, to say the least. The staff's pretty chill, but I can't say I personally enjoyed the food. Perhaps it's just personal taste, as you can still admit the effort put into the dishes.

The view is nothing short of spectacular!!!!! You can see the whole of Calgary from here and the view is really amazing. The food too is extra special. The selection of wines is top notch 5 stars all the way: food, view and service

The iconic Calgary Tower, created in a single continuous pouring of concrete in 1968 is as much part of the city's brand as the Calgary Stampede. The Sky 360 Restaurant atop the tower is not as rich in ambience as it once was, but its staff are efficient and attentive. There is an elevator fee for patrons not ordering an entree. Our party of eight enjoyed a wide selection of the menu which included such entrees as prime rib, stuffed chicken, salmon, two vegetarian dishes, and lamb, all seasoned and cooked to perfection. Equally large lists of appetizers and deserts are available, one of which involves a sweet yam called "UBE" (why all caps remains a mystery) from the Philippines along with strawberries and blueberries. Not too sweet, for us it made an exquisite dessert. One of the tastiest decaf lattes I have had in North America capped the meal. The restaurant is not inexpensive, but it is also not the most expensive in Calgary either, and for first timers, at least on most days, its hourly rotation offers a wonderful bonus -- a panoramic view of Calgary and its environs. (Warning, if you sit near the window, do not put anything down on the window sill!) Afterward, we enjoyed the views on the observation deck, with some of our party photographing the street below their feet through the glass floor (only in the area of a large segmented bay window). Even on a slightly snowy day, the city was seen in nearly its full glory.

While in Calgary we wanted to check out the Calgary tower. While my family and I enjoyed it, I found the prices to be quite high. The upper observation area was closed off unless you were with a school tour so after our initial walk around the kids were ready to leave. The glass floor area is very cool but quite scratched. Because the admission is so high, I would not go again unless we were going out to eat in the restaurant or if there was something that would take more time.
