::I have been looking at this beautiful shop from the outside of the glass since I was a child, always in awe of how lovely it was, like something from a fairytale. I always felt it was a hidden treasure of the Byward market, encased in glass, adorned in plants, finely decorated, like an oasis. Today I finally went in and found that the man who sits inside is a treasure himself. He was kind, unassuming, and offered me a surprisingly reasonable estimate to fix a broken ring of mine ($10). So refreshing to meet people (merchants) like this. Really made my day. Do yourself a favour and pass by his shop, it's a lovely experience.

::My Fiance went to Jim's shop with a very specific idea in mind for my engagement ring and a very short timeline to get it done. Needless to say Jim went above and beyond to make sure I had the (very hard to find gemstone) and ring of my dreams. ::Really wonderful experience at Jim Horton's shop. Tremendously friendly, and understood instantly what we were looking for in my (groom's) wedding band -- a simple 6mm yellow gold ring with an engraving on the inside. Ended up producing a wonderful piece within about two weeks. Based on his advice we even ended up under-budget! Following the wedding I had to come back and have it slightly re-sized for a more comfortable fit, and Mr. Horton did it within five minutes. Would absolutely recommend his services to anybody in Ottawa looking for something a bit more personal than just a big-box jewelry shop.
