  My boyfriend and I end up coming here quite a bit, I love the atmosphere and the old wood decor! The service is usually pretty good, one girl in particular I seem to get often, is really great! (unfortunately can't remember her name). It can take awhile to get a drink or your bill on a busier night but that's too be expected anywhere. The Scholar is my favourite drink, really can't go wrong with espresso vodka!

  So I decided to have a going-away party, and thought that Thirsty Scholar would be a good location because it has a lot of seating. I also phoned ahead of time on the day of my party to ask if there were any events going on that night (i.e. loud music or something that would make it challenging to find seats), and the woman I talked to said that there was not. When we got there it turned out there was going to be a live show, but I figured since it is hard to change an event at the last minute, maybe we could tough it out by sitting far enough from the stage. The only table I could find far from the stage that had enough seating had dirty dishes and "reserved" signs on it, so I hoped for some reason that either I had accidentally made a reservation, or that the table was no longer reserved and the waitress was just cleaning it up. When I tried to ask whether or not the table was reserved CURRENTLY and if we could sit there, the waitress kept giving non-answers like, "maybe?", and "I have to get cutlery for it". When I asked her again if we could sit there, her response was a very rude "YEA, WHATEVER!". She made us all feel really uncomfortable, but decided to be more welcoming when she saw that we had a reasonably sized party. We ultimately left anyways because the music I specifically asked about was too loud for us to hold conversations.

  Fairly good selection of beer. Hard liquor is measured out like its cocaine ....no oomf to a drink ...the food albeit tasty but priced far too high. Where oh where do you find creativity In this city. Start with the nachos!

  I have always enjoyed the atmosphere at this place, the wood on the walls and posters make this pub feel great. Good drinks and food, I enjoy their house craft beer. It's losing a star because of service, the waitresses aren't overly friendly. I like that the management is quite involved and will go on the house Speaker telling about specials.

  DJ'd a birthday party upstairs at Thirsty Scholar. Sheena took really good care of the group. Staff were willing to go the extra mile to make things work. Everyone from the party was very happy and had lots of fun. If you're ever looking to book a private event for any occasion, I would recommend the Thirsty Scholar. Thank you to Sheena and the team for making the event a great success!
