  This place is exactly what you hope for when checking into a new Hostel. The common area and kitchen are perfect; Holly and her front desk team are very knowledgeable about the area and are eager to share info on attractions and activities. Their experience makes The Haven the ideal base for exploring the area around Thunder Bay. Or if you’re just passing through, the bunks are the best I’ve seen! Super well thought out, with a reading light, power and a little shelf. Can’t say enough about this place, cleanliness, location, everything! You won’t be disappointed!

  Great place ! Loved the fact that we can arrive after hours using personalized pin codes on doors. This is very convenient when the receptionist is out. The whole experience was great, and the place still looked like new. I went there with my girlfriend and we both loved it. I definitely recommend.

  The Haven adds a refreshing touch of luxury into the hostel environment. I was impressed with the thoughtful touches, gorgeous decor (a 15 foot long yellow couch! Wood tables!) and delicious breakfast. Even though I was the only guest the weeknight I stayed, the owner made me coffee in the morning and was quite friendly. My pod was very cozy and comfy with the little shelf, reading light amd outlet. I'm already booked there again with my partner next week and looking forward to trying out one of their suites! Only downside is the $35-40 taxi ride each way from the airport. Best done with a rental car or friends..

  This was my first time staying at a hostel and it was an amazing experience! The place was very clean, and the bed was super comfortable. We met Paul, one of the owners, who greeted us at the door when we arrived there past midnight. There was also fresh coffee waiting for us there. Paul was also there first thing in the morning to make coffee and offer us breakfast. I highly recommend this place to anyone staying in Thunder Bay.

  The Haven Hostel is an amazing place! I've stayed in Thunder Bay many times, and this has been the best experience by far, thanks to the hostel. As a large ski team we had the hostel to ourselves for 10 days - and for a group I can't think of a better place (in fact, we have traveled throughout Canada for races over many years and overall this has been the best accommodation and experience yet). The kitchen is extremely well equipped, the rooms comfortable, and the open space ample, inviting, and tastefully decorated with much local flair and beautiful artwork. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive to every detail: if there is anything they have overlooked, they will probably tend to it immediately, as they did for us. Highly recommended!
