  Now that I've actually shopped here a few more times I can darn well say that considering it is downtown just off st cats it is easily the best priced and best stocked store in the area. The staff are friendly and hard working for the most part and they have plenty of staff members. Meats are usually a good deal too as their butchers are decent.

  PA du Fort is the best grocery store in downtown Montreal. Beware, it is very busy almost all the time and too small for the variety of products they sell. Their prices are very competitive. Their produce is fresh and cheap. They have a great deli selection. They have no fishmonger or butcher counter, but their pre-packaged products are fresh and that aisle is never stinky. They have a respectable selection of pretty much all other foods, beverages and household products but are not likely to carry specialty or high-end items.

  A 5/5 place no doubt about that. There's always a select handful of items here that are simply an unbeatable price relative to any of the other stores. Then there are a bunch of other items they have which the other stores don't ever carry at all. It's a great spot for those living downtown doing their groceries on foot in small frequent trips. It's often busy, but I've never waited very long in line even when there was a substantial lineup. I wouldn't be able to say enough good things about PA. Just go.

  Pretty close to Guy Concordia metro station. Vegetables and fruits are usually really cheap here and quality is good. Meats and dairy products also available and price is acceptable (really cheap if promotion). Make sure you are mentally and physically prepared before you shopping here as it is almost always super crowded. Expect to squeeze through people if you visit during peak hour.

  Most items are inexpensive at this place, but some prices are on the high side (Double Fruit spread it's $5.50). Still the overall bill is cheap at this place. Also, very important, a the refrigerated food near the cheese section, the smoked salmon spread is sold even when too old: they keep it even for 1 week on the shelves! I bought once when it was 4 days old and I had to throw it to the bin when I opened it at home. This item doesn't sell well, because it's expensive. Check the date on the salmon spread and don't purchase if it's more than 2 days old because then it doesn't taste fresh. Usually it should be consumed no more than 3 days after being packed.
