The canal on the day I went during long weekend was rough and had so many cracks in it. I kept seeing people fall and I as well got my skates stuck in a crack and fell cause it was so deep. Line ups for rentals are super long on a busy weekend so be prepared. The hot chocolate stand had interesting flavours but came out Luke warm. Interesting experience if the ice was in better condition. I think I skated 5km or more.

Beautiful landmark of Ottawa. The Rideau canal, being a historical staple of Ottawa is an exciting visit anytime of year. Whether skating during the winter on the world’s largest skating rink, visiting one of the many locks, biking along either side of the canal, it is always an amazing Ottawa experience. Kayak/canoe rentals during the summer were a fun way to see the city from the water.

Was a fun place to visit. Went for a skate and the ice was fantastic. Stopped to have a Beaver Tail and it was delicious. They even had a heated hut to eat the Beaver Tail and it was a good thing because it was pretty cold. If your in Ottawa in the winter season bring your skates this is a must do. Bring lots of warm clothing
