  I went to the empress seeking the world famous high tea experience that they are renowned for. To say that I was in for the treat of my life would be an understatement. A lot of attention is paid to every minor detail - including their beatifully crafted tea menu, cute sand timers for getting a perfect tea roast, eye catching and tummy satisfying condiment tower and a live classical piano to top it all. Their high tea is an experience worth trying out.

  We sat at the bar. Its a nice place, very sophisticated but a bit cold and sterile ambience. The chilled seafood platter for two was good but not great. Nothing wrong with it but it didn't wow us. The Dungeoness Crab that they tried to pass off as King crab seemed like it had been in the fridge for at least 24 hours, and thus was somewhat dried out. I liked the Arrowsmith brewery Comfortably Chum wheat beer.

  Had an amazing time. The food was some of the best we have had in the city. For the quality and care put in to the dishes, I feel I should have paid more.

  Has potential but it's first year was a disappointment. 2017 A year later, 2018, and this place has flourished and found it's place. Classy cocktails, amazing food and wonderful service staff.

  I know that many were lamenting the redesign of the lounge and restaurant areas of this iconic landmark. But I love how the new restaurant has a few flourishes of the past but the rest drives forward. The service is impeccable - still - and the food was right on the price point. Once again, this is a place to celebrate all the milestones.
