I was here for the Vancouver Gem and Mineral Show. The venue was adequate, with a food court and washrooms on site. It was fairly well ventilated.

Was there during the concert. Had fun. Big animatronic insects.

Saw monster jam here. It was ok. I feel the venue is too small so the trucks can't do the cool tricks they do in the states. And 15$ popcorn/15$ cotton candy? REALLY? It's a great place to see horse shows, superdogs, and other PNE related stuff.

Went to see the Chinese lantern festival and it was disappointing. They had a few nice big displays but the rest were ok. I was expecting it to be really big based on the website description but it wasn't. I was expecting some Asian food and not hit dogs, pizzas etc. Don't think I will be going again. I'll be going for the PNE for sure.

"The PNE was so much better when I was a kid". I hear that all the time and have been guilty of saying that myself. Although every year the PNE seems to have a little less allure, many things have improved since I was young. Better food quality and variety. More and better live music and other entertainment. And this year - finally - you can buy beer (even craft beer!) and wine from many different vendors AND ACTUALLY WALK AROUND THE FAIRGROUNDS WITH IT. Welcome to the 21st century! What's missing from the PNE though is any of the magic or sense of wonder that it seemed to have in the 70's and 80's. Sad.
