a terrific place to forage for books, surprising and rare!! so much fun! I hope they get more shelves though.

Changing my review from 4 to 2 stars. I want to love this place because it looks like a bibliophile's dream. It has everything you could want, smells like old musty books, and looks like an avalanche of books could fall on you at a moment's notice which is a huge part of its charm. I love this! But... The man who was working there - I'm not sure if he's the owner or not - was rather abrupt the first time I was there which was fine - the only friends I was looking for were the literary kind. But on this round, he was speaking with a very kind man with a rather rude, dismissive, and frankly borderline offensive demeanour. The other man, despite this, remained friendly. But my fiancΓ© and I were rather upset by this. I have a modest collection of about 2000 books and am constantly adding to it. I'm disappointed that I can't, in good conscience, add this place to my rather small roster.

Definitely an experience. Sort of haphazard, and not the sort of book store you'd go to if you're looking for something specific, although it's impressive how much the employees know about where to find certain things, if you do ask them any questions. It's really just got a lot of character, and is a lot of fun to browse around. Just sort of chaotic and confining at times, and I was disappointed by the signs insisting that pictures not be taken.

Great traditional style second hand bookstore! It's wonderful to see these places still survive. Located very conveniently downtown. Filled to the rafters with tons of books - intellectual, arcane, and popular all mixed together. Place where a bibliophile can lose themselves for hours!

THE best book store in Vancouver! A bibliophile's dream. High wooden shelves. Stacks of books everywhere. Old world book store. The smell of old books... paradise!
