::Bottega Nicastro is the best for deli sandwiches in Ottawa. For $7, you get quality meat and bread you wouldn’t find at a fast food chain. As a big fan of deli meat, I was devastated when German Town Deli closed a few years ago. So when I needed my fix of salami I thought I was out of luck! Until I found this place. Besides their lunch counter, this Italian grocery store has a lot of great imported items, I’m a big fan of their cheese and chocolate sections. They also have whole a aisle for cooking oils. Regardless, their lunch deli really stands out as there are tons of cured meats you can mix together, plus 4 kinds of fresh breads. The soft panini with Genoa salami is great. Coffee is also fantastic. Honestly, I like the sandwiches so much I have to actively tell myself not to go on lunch every day because I work in the Byward market! Highly recommend for lunch.

::Although we hadn't had the opportunity to visit the shop or the deli, we were there for our cooking course reservation. Had a blast, socialized, learned new techniques and recipes for cooking, laughed and ate like a king. Delicious food! Chef Michael Cummings did an awesome job, so did Sophie and Gabie. Certainly worth the price. I will definitely want to return for the activity... and maybe even to shop next time lol!

::Incredible italian market in downtown Ottawa. You can have a custom made sandwich for around CAD$7 made with the most delicious ingredients. Also, from Monday to Saturday they have an open cuisine were you can treat yourself with fresh made pasta.

::Update: Still good food, and prices. However, recently the staff have not been very friendly, especially the cashiers. No smiles, or greetings. Other than that my experience with the food is good. I visited after hearing such great things about this place, and I was seriously impressed. I bought a panini (sandwich) and it was absolutely amazing! The price was also very great. I will be returning and I urge you to try this place if you have not already!
