  review for the 8th street location- I brought my shirt that was 25% lace to get hemmed and I got a call saying that there was a 'rip' in the lace, that was apparently there when I brought it to them and they wont work on it until came in and seen it. I am a seamstress as well so the first thing I did before I bought the shirt was check the lace for any rips or tearing and there was none and I got my boyfriend to check as well and there was none. that being said, I was confused when they said this. I went to check it out and it turns out it was a scissor cut that they were saying was a 'rip' and they in fact had already worked on the shirt, even thought they told me they wouldn't and the 'rip' was there prior to them sewing it. so I informed them that that scissor cut was not there before and I guaranteed it and they replaced the entire lace on the shirt free of charge and they did an amazing job re-doing the shirt with the new lace material. It was a good turn out from a bad experience.

  Crooked swindlers. Use the other Kay's Sewing instead. I think the good reviews are just people mixing up the two locations anyway, since I just learned the two people who each recommended them to me were thinking of the other location instead. I'm talking about the one on 8th street near Amazing Stories. They did extra work I didn't ask for, never consulted me, then charged me. The end price was almost double what they initially guestimated because of their "nice extra" which was "very hard work"... which I didn't ask for. I'm not sure if it's even legal to do that. Anyway, avoid these grifters and get somebody else to do the work if you can't just do it yourself. And get your work order DETAILED AND IN WRITING (I feel like a fool for not doing that with them, and I paid plenty for my mistake)

  Excellent place to get alterations done. They know what they're doing and the prices are reasonable. They've done hemming a pair of jeans to taking in and doing some major alterations to my grad dress. Was done on time and was fairly a good price. I for sure recommend this place to anyone!
