The Garneau theatre is a large historic theatre that somehow survived into the modern era. It is now operated by the Edmonton Metro Cinema Society and showcases a wide variety of high quality classic and modern titles.

The garneau theatre is probably the place my husband and I go most often for entertainment. We go two to three times a month. There are always movies that one of us is interested in because they bring in such unique films and have so many curated events like music docs or psychedelia films or foreign film festivals. Plus the seats are incredibly comfortable and they have the best buttered popcorn and they serve beer. So even if I don't love the movie its a good night.

We go to the garneau theatre at least twice a month. It's such a great theatre with fantastic film choices, tons of fun events... For example sometimes they do all you can eat cereal buffet with Saturday morning cartoons.... Or they have tons of curated or themed films like Rock and Roll documentaries... There's so much more. But most importantly, the seats are comfortable, the popcorn is amazing, and it's licensed so you can drink a beer while watching your movie

The best is when they play old movies. Great popcorn ans great staff. My biggest complaint is that they have changed the movies they play. Three years ago I could find 2 or 3 movies a month to go and see. I think their mentality is not the same. They do not play as many old classic movies, or great foriegn movies; but seem to focus on movies with political messages.
