I've never been to Denmark, but I'm concerned that they might give me some angst when I get there. I'm sure Denmark is a nice 5 star country

Summer after summer, Danish Embassy in Canada brings up the "unusually high amount of applications" as the reason to why they are "not able to meet the usual service goal of a 15 day processing time." While it makes sense to say "it is the applicant’s responsibility to apply in time for the intended departure" it is also fair to say that you (Embassy of Denmark) need to treat the applicants with the respect they deserve, especially if they DO apply within the required timeline. Here is how you treat the potential guests of your country without any respect: -- You provide no insight into the extended timeline of the application process (no tracking application online, no email/text or any other updates) -- You don't respond to emails -- You don't pick up the phone -- You don't call back -- With the lack of any information on the status of ones' application, you force people to agonize for weeks before their vacation -- You don't process visa applications on time so people can't go on the trips they have paid for and planned for months I'd like to personally call out Niels Boel Abrahamsen - Denmarks's Ambassador in Canada - for the lack of action to fix the situation. It is your responsibility, Mr. Abharamsen, to ensure that your office if properly staffed throughout the year. If there is an increased amount of applications every summer, hire an extra intern or two for the 3 months so they can, at the very least, help out with the load of emails and calls. You, Mr. Abrahamsen, chose to keep your Twitter, Facebook and other social media profiles active during the summer. Do you really think that people who want to visit your country care about your daily posts over having their visa applications approved? Those priorities of yours indicate a complete lack of respect for the people who are anxiously waiting for their visas. I do hope that you consider the fact that you, Mr. Abrahamsen, and the Embassy you work in, represent Denmark to ALL people in Canada, including us, the have-nots of this world who unlike Canadian citizens have to apply for a visa to visit your country. Is this the best you can do?

Just remember to apply your visa as earlier as possible, specially in Summer. The processing time was much longer than we thought. Emails and phone calls didn't work. You can't get any updating information on line either. At last we tried going to their office in person several days before departure. The staff was helpful thought. Fortunately we received our visas 1 day before departure.

    - Long processing time 45-60 days, so better to apply 2 months before your planned visit and you should be OK not to have your passport while waiting!!. - You will not have any update of status of your application during the processing time window. -The only way to contact them is through their email.

I'm not someone who spends time online to post bad reviews, but I thought it's my responsibility to share my own experience with the Danish embassy for the sake of others. I've traveled to so many countries in the past, but this embassy has given me the worst experience so far. We were looking for a Schengen visa to travel to Iceland, and after the visa application, they took much longer that what their website had originally stated. In our case, we had booked all flight tickets and accomodation, and had to go through such an anxious time for our visas to arrive. What's more, even after several emails to them, there was not a single response to any of our emails or the voicemails we had left. Finally, after several days of waiting, I contacted the Iceland embassy in Ottawa and complained to them about this, and two very helpful women at the Iceland embassy contacted these guys directly and got them to (start!) processing our visas. Finally, we received our visas TWO DAYS prior to our departure to Iceland! I'd never recommend. P.S: Oh BTW, if you see any 5 star review here, know that it's fake.
