Honestly, I was very impressed by the efficiency of this visa centre. I was a little concerned after reading the reviews, but it was so simple. The place was easy to find using google maps. I parked at the MEC and walked less than 5 minutes. It is in a pretty nondescript building- no signage that I could see. It is on a corner (diagonal to U of C's downtown campus) and there is a Tim Hortons and Shawarma place. Go inside, take the elevator to the 2nd floor and it is directly to the left. I did not make an appointment to drop it off, and I only waited maybe fifteen minutes max. I went around 1pm on a Wednesday, and my visa was ready by Monday. To pick-up, I did not wait at all, (even though there were people waiting in the room), the pick-up took priority. As long as you have the documents outlined on the website, you should be good to go. One thing I would recommend would be to bring a photocopy of your passport. Every single person who applied before me was told to photocopy it at their printer (and pay 25 cents). Obviously that isn't much to pay, it is good to know...especially since they do not tell you to bring one.

I want express my gratitude to this center and its staff for rushing out my son’s visa on time. My son’s visa was due to be picked on Monday Oct 16th, but due to an emergency situation, we wanted his visa by Friday Oct 13th, so I went to the center at noon on Friday, explain the reason and my wish to get the visa on the same day. Without hesitation, the lady at the front desk went to talk to the visa officers and came back with positive answer. So I could pick up the visa within 2 hours. I noticed that they had to sign a few documents because of this. I am sorry for the trouble I created for them and thankful for their understanding and sympathy. J.G., Edmonton

Phone call answering was very impatient and rude. Asking questions about visa application but was told: do you listen well and can you understand? No customer service etiquette at all. Worst customer service experience ever.

We had applied for our Chinese visas using postal service through this Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Calgary. Although we were initially worried about sending all of our important documents away by mail, in the end there was no need to be so worried (as long as you have filled out their application forms and sent in all the documents that they have asked for on their website). We sent everything through Canada Post using Xpresspost (you can track your package using the tracking numbers through the Canada Post website or by using their app.) As soon as the centre had received our application they had called me right away to notify me of some missing items. I would send the missing documents through Xpresspost or in some instances they needed me to write a note and had asked me to email them a copy. The expected time to receive our visas was what was indicated on their website (10 days for postal service). It was just as what I expected from them. I would suggest that if you do have any questions then you should email them. I suspect calling them (unless you can speak Mandarin) may be tricky. *Please keep in mind that our application was for a tourist visa and so it may be more straightforward than any of the other categories.*
