Came from Hamilton to visit a friend in the city for the day. We hit up Butter Baker fpr our sweet fix. What a cute location, very clean and super friendly. But the product are not just beautiful but the best danish I've ever had....i had the grape danish and every bite was like heaven. I bought a croissant and ate it the way home. I will be stopping there again next time I'm in the city.

Butter Baker is a really nice cozy quick grab and go bakery.Their danish tarts were very excellent. I would love to come back and try the rest of their pastries and potentially cakes. I wasn’t able to try any of their drinks but I’d definitely recommend their pastries. There are places for you to stand and eat your delish small bites but not much for sitting down. Not ideal for meeting people. It’s really for a quick bite.

The products here are high quality and beautiful. The cakes are a tad bit expensive for just a regular occasion but I'm sure they're well worth it if you're celebrating an important date. The only problem I have is that there is no seating, it's just two standing tables that can fit a total of 2-8 people (depending on group size) And the customer service is pretty bad, its a bit hit or miss. I've gotten a very friendly cashier before and I've also gotten a cashier who made it seem like i was wasting their time. I don't enjoy feeling like a burden while I'm paying to be there which is why I rate it a 3/5.

I've only tried their Viennoiseries - texture is definitely the better than similar products from nearby bakeries. The layers are well defined, with outside layers very crispy and inner layers softer and chewier. When you press on the inside layers, they don't gel back together and there's no excess grease. Flavour-wise, I found them on the saltier side. Price range is high, but for the given quality, I would not mind the splurge once in a while.

Came by on a weekday late evening and was pretty surprised (and content) that there were still lemon meringue croissants and matcha cake slices left. Nonetheless, I picked up one of each. Note that the store itself doesn't have seating and is pretty narrow, so it's a grab-and-go type of store. The prices are on the higher end of pastries, but given that the same people as Butter Avenue are behind them, it's not that surprising. The croissant was flaky and flavour was definitely different from the average croissant, but I wouldn't say it justified the price point. The meringue was fluffy and the lemon paste inside was a nice difference in taste, but not exceedingly special. Cake was moist and nicely layered, but again, but that special, and likely wouldn't come back for either the cake or the croissant. I'd recommend it to give it a try, but it's not likely somewhere I'd return often.
