I just had an amazing experience here. So they ran out of blueberry for the blueberry latte and happily substituted with maple. They even offered some "I'm sorry" treats. We went to beyond the pale for beer and were buzzed for food. Came back and they had lost my order. Not a problem for me. They refunded me the cost and brought it to me about 5 mins later to beyond the pale next door. Over the TOP amazing customer service!

Delicious food and coffee. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is it's very noisy. I previously said it's a bit expensive but I have to update that, as the portions and quality are really good.

If you ask me, I don't get why it is so popular and trendy. Super loud and crowded, the staff is borderline unpleasant or simply rude (Honestly, I don't blame them... they are under pressure with all the clients constantly asking for their attention), the locatio8n so ugly (please check my pics), I don't get how it has ever became popular... The prices are insane! I bought 2 croissants for 8.19$ with taxes! A vulgar plain croissant for 3.15 and a chocolate one for 3.99. And no. They are not unique or delicious or exceptional. Just okay. Anyways. If you ask me, it is way overated.

Okay, I don't really like this place, but I have to admit that some of the food I've had there is great. The brownies they make are so amazing that I am willing to step in the dog poo that is their customer service experience to get one or three on occasion. Actually I sometimes stop by there to get a brownie and other sweets on my way to get bread at a different great bakery. AIIB has obviously somehow established a following because it is always full. Is that from catering countless government and organizational events and providing a better sandwich platter than Subway? Who can know?... But people must like the place to put up with it. Other than the fact that they call themselves a bakery and have so-so bread, my biggest issue with the place is the service.... It kind of reminds me of a warehouse night club in a college district: Okay, no cover charge I admit, but I get the same sort of vibe once I'm in there. Am I in the right line? What seat can I sit at? Can I ask a staff member how this works , or do I have to just read the signs and figure out the rules? I've received my unfair share of shrugs, sighs, and rolled eyes there. And then of course the worst part: the arbitrary counter service. They have two (LONG) lines to the service counter and multiple servers at the counter calling up people from either line. (I think the lines are supposed to be for two different things but it doesn't work out and effectively it is just two lines for the same counter.) You wait and sweat (it's a sauna in there in the winter - like a bakery full of popsicles basically) and as you get closer to the front you notice there is no system in place to let the staff know which line was called from last. You watch as people working the counter become free, they look up and pick another person in one of the lines to come up. They don't know which line was picked from last; how did they make their decision? ... And you flash back to waving a fist full of bills at a bartender in a sea of thirsty college kids... The bread is mediocre at best, but it is priced like good bread. I wouldn't say it is expensive bread (I happily pay the same or higher price at another bakery), but it is nothing to write home about. As I said above the brownies are amazing, and so are a lot of the other sweets at the counter. they really are good. Some of the sandwich type food is pretty good too, but I'd say a tad overrated. The burger they sell seems to be highly regarded. I've had it. It is tasty. The example I had would have made a good bowl of food. But if you place any value on the 'mechanics' of a burger and don't want the second half of it to be a hamburger salad, I'd say skip it. This is a local independent place so I encourage people to go and try it. Maybe I'm just a jerk. I know I was a bit snarky in this review but that is only because of the crappy vibe I've got there every time I've been. Obviously there is no shortage of people willing to give a positive review. If your experience is anything like mine has been hopefully you will comment to encourage improvement. I should also add, I have never been in the summer. I can imagine it might be more comfortable when the entire front of the unit is opened to the outdoors and there are many additional seats outside.... On the other hand, it is probably a lot busier... Parking is ample but regulated. The lot is for the entire City Centre complex and operated by a third party. You have to register your car by putting a ticket in your dash, but the first (I want to say hour??) is free. there are other interesting businesses to check out in the centre

One of my absolute favourite cafes in Canada. Amazing food, delicious coffee and lovely bread. It's hard to get to without a car, but so so so worth it. I miss going here terribly. I used to buy their jalapeรฑo and cheddar bread from a store near me, and had to carry some back to my family (5 hr trip) because everyone loves it. Took some camping with me too. I dream of going back to enjoy their fantastic vegetarian options.
