My Husband and I have long had a dream of building a yurt (A round house with a canvas covering) to live in. When we had a chance to make this dream a reality, we decided to purchase as much local material for it as possible. We came to Advance Tent and Awning slightly naive but hopeful they could help us with the covering. This was the one thing we thought it was best left to professionals. Ken Lowen met with us the first day we walked in the door. Jovial and enthusiastic about making a canvas covering, he told us all about one he and his company had constructed in the past. He assured us that that the Sunforger Canvas they would be using could be counted on to deflect any water. This would of course be very important since the canvas would cover both the walls` and the roof of our soon to be home. He made us feel we were in good hands. We walked away feeling the walls and roof were worked out with a company we could trust. With that out of the way we set to work on construction of the platform, walls, etc. of our yurt and ordered the covering when we had saved enough money. Cost was approximately $5000.00. We picked up our canvas roof and walls two months late. We were told June, it was ready in late August. We decided it would be best to wait until Spring to erect it. Friends and family all got together and on one long weekend in May 2017 we got it up. With our expensive wood flooring down and the platform, walls and rafters up, we unwrapped and set up the canvas. This was a pain because instead of being able to unfurl it easily as Ken said it would be, it had been wrapped backwards. The day we had the canvas up, we had a downpour. We were horrified as rain streamed through the canvas everywhere seeping into our floor. We contacted Ken who told us that this happens the first time the canvas is subjected to rain. He did not mention this at all in any past conversations! So we went out and bought a huge $200.00 tarp to protect our flooring just in case of any further leakage. At this point we were beginning to feel we had made a mistake choosing this company. Ken wanted more proof of leaking than the photos we provided so over the summer we waited to get the perfect video while he was supposed to speak with the company who manufactures Sunforger canvas. The planets did not align correctly and we did not get out to site to take a clear video of the water coming in. However, every time we walked through the door we were faced with a flood. Ken stopped answering our e-mails. We decided to write a new e-mail to Ken and ask how much it would cost to buy a replacement vinyl roof to cover up the problem. With the possibility of taking more money out of our hands he finally got back to us. So... long story short, the roof he told us would not leak leaked. It has cost us extra money and sleepless nights. Their business is coverings and to us, they did not provide a quality product.Nor did they make things right when given the chance. We do not recommend taking your chances with this company. Adrianne and Jacob

The Awning purchased from Advance Tent and Awning has so far exceeded expectations. Very good quality and the front angle adjustment makes the Awning that much better. Advance is not the cheapest option, but the extra cost as opposed to the big box store options makes it more than worthwhile
