  I privately purchased a sofa from Vancouver to be delivered in Ottawa by ABF Freight. On January 16, 2018 my Visa was charged for the shipment at $1,150.29. I was told I can pickup the shipment at ABF Freight at 280 Terminal Ave in Ottawa on January 18 but because of the size of the shipment I wanted ABF Freight to deliver directly to me. I paid extra for the transfer from the warehouse to me directly and here is where the problem happened. The shipment was delivered on January 19, 2018 with the legs broken off the sofa. The delivery driver said that the fork lift operator in the warehouse drove the fork life into the sofa and broke the legs off, after I had requested and paid for the additional transport cost from the ABF Freight facility to me directly. I asked the driver for the name of the fork lift operator who damaged the sofa but the driver did not want to be involved. On January 20th, 2018 I filled a claim with ABF Freight for the damages. They asked me the amount I was claiming and for a bill showing the amount I paid for the sofa which was $1800 plus the cost of the freight at $1,150.29. 

Today March 6, 2018 I asked for an update and was told that my claim was processed with a refund of $200. A real slap in the face and in return I’ve filled a dispute with Visa for the cost of the freight, filled a BBB dispute and posted my ABF Freight review here on Google. ABF Freight might have gotten away with this one but let’s avoid them from doing this again. If you’re looking for a freight company to handle your shipment keep looking, don’t take any chances here. This is not my first shipment with ABF Freight. I’ve hired ABF Freight for large shipments coming from far distances before. A few arcade machines from Detroit to Toronto and from Michigan to Ottawa. A vintage mid-century Formica dinette set (table and chairs) from Arizona to Ottawa. I've never had any problems with ABF Freight and the staff is great. My shipments have always been delivered on time and in excellent condition. It's sad to say that this experience with ABF Freight has changed my opinion on the company, staff and how they handle claims. I no longer recommend ABF Freight for personal or business shipments. How ABF Freight takes care and responsibility for shipments is beyond questionable. They've made it clear they're not responsible for how a shipment are miss-handled and for this reason I will no longer hire or recommend ABF Freight. The first photo below shows the original condition of the sofa, the second and third photos shows the sofa being covered with a blanket and wrapped in clear plastic wrap. The following photos show the condition of the sofa after it was delivered with the broken legs. Judge for yourself how careless ABF Freight was with my shipment. Knowing this would you trust them with your shipment?
